What Republicans MUST Do!

Democrats claim they are being thoughtful, trying to decipher all that is in the Bill in order to make the Right decision.  We know what’s in the Bill and how the Truth is being twisted and distorted. 

Republicans need to offer Democrats some help in the form of a Resolution that puts the President and Democrats on the Spot.

As Candidate Obama said himself,

“Shame is a useful Emotion to get People to do the Right thing.”

 The Resolution should List the Misstatements of Fact that have been made by the President and others.

 Paul Ryan and Others have already spoken about many of these things.  What is most important is to spell the points out in PLAIN language that even a Geico Cave Man could understand it.

Spell out plainly what the Truth is:  Regarding the Four C’s:

 Cost – Control – Constitution – Consequences.

 I. Cost.

 The numbers in terms of smoke and mirror accounting by manipulating the CBO process to hide the real cost.[i]

The fact of where our economy is, we cannot afford to borrow any more nor burden already struggling companies with more costs.

 The biggest cost is the Loss of Our Freedom.

II. Control.

 Not necessarily from a Government Control over the People standpoint, although that is an important aspect.[ii]

 Control from the standpoint of Centralized vs. Decentralized control.[iii]  From a practical standpoint, just think for a moment of the scale of our whole Health Care System.[iv]

 III. Constitution.

 Mark R. Levin and Landmark Legal Foundation leads the way on this one. As a layperson, I will summarize here by saying:

 Congress cannot violate Article 1 Section 7 with regard to the Process of how a Bill becomes Law.[v]

The Tenth Amendment[vi] is nonspecific and general by Design and the Words are clear:

“The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”

IV. Consequences.

 Many say they don’t know the consequences until it’s implemented as expressed by the Speaker’s comment, “We won’t know what’s in the Bill until we pass the Bill.”[vii] 

 If you are not aware of the consequences, intended or unintended, of your YES vote – YOU NEED TO VOTE NO!

 As the lawyers have included more precise language in manuals to assign Proper Responsibility – a key word is “understand” –

Please read and understand before operating. 

 Democrats likewise should read and understand the Resolution before voting because their vote cast is done with their Full Knowledge and Responsibility.  The final choice is up to you.

[i] If this was really about the true cost of healthcare, ask yourself if you know the answer to this most basic question:

From conception to death, what is the average cost per person for heathcare?

Don’t be embarrassed if you don’t know the answer – I don’t know the answer but I think it’s a fundamental question that we need to spend a little time with, to find real solutions to our healthcare problems.

You could make a few calls, do some calculations, grab a number and rush to vote – the number is NOT the point, it’s about stopping the Pushing of an Agenda.  

 [ii] Michele Bachman has sited the number additional IRS agents that will be hired and the cost to enforce the monthly Government requirements on ALL Americans – even those with Private insurance.

[iii] In terms trying to implement and impose a Progressive based system and how decisions would be made using the scarce resources of Government. Simply site the Hillsdale College February 2010 Article of Imprimis by Paul Ryan.

 My two cents about Common Sense and why Centralized HC makes no sense:

 Just because some people have burned their toast, doesn’t mean the Best Solution is to connect all toasters to Washington.  The question is not: Can we do it? – the most important question is: Should we do it?

 Even if we connect all the toasters to Washington, it’s still about making toast and like the delivery of Health Care, when it comes right down to it, it’s a local issue. It is about: How I like my toast. When I want to have toast. What kind of and how much toast I want to have. I don’t think I should have to buy toasters for everyone who may not even have a place to plug a toaster in or may not even like toast. Nor do I want to be told I can’t put bagels in my toaster – you get the idea. Continuing with the analogy, it is surprising how the details apply to centralized healthcare – it’s just the costs and consequences are a whole lot greater.

 [iv] How crazy is it to centralize control of every single healthcare step, line item, decision and cost – from brain surgery to tongue depressors – and put that control in Washington?

 What will be the added cost of implementing a system like this and what is the value that will be returned to the American People?

 This does not make sense nor is it even feasible that it can be done, let alone done well.

 Remember the three words: Cash for Clunkers. Look at how the Government managed this transaction simple program and now we want to entrust Government with our whole healthcare system – without so much as a Pilot Program.

 We should just Trust the President and  Democrats when they say:

 “Don’t worry about the details, lets just get this thing passed and we’ll figure out the details on the Fly.” 

 Are you kidding me?

 As the great Jim Rohn might say if he were alive,

 “If you were to make decisions like that a home – we should call someone to come and pick up your family and take them to safety.”

 [v] With regard to Deem and Pass, in spite of how some like to characterize it, the fact is – there is “No Implied Waiver” when it comes to the Constitution; just because there was a wink, wink and a nod in the past, doesn’t mean we can now throw the whole Constitution in the trash.

 That would not make for a real stable foundation to build any Constitution based, civilized Society on. Come on!

[vi] A note regarding Roman Numerals – an X means the Tenth Amendment NOT that it was crossed out and you can ignore it. 

[vii] We have touched on the consequences of implementing an untested hypothetical system on the fly, at a cost that is massive in terms of numbers and lost Freedom.

 Many say we won’t know the consequences until it’s implemented, as expressed by the Speaker’s comment,

“We won’t know what’s in the Bill until we pass the Bill.” 

 Let me ask you:

Would you get on a plane flown by a 14 year old, who could talk a good game and people said he knew how to fly?  Who would say:

 “Oh sure, I’d hop aboard and just trust. Of course I would first talk with him and listen to what he had to say. Then if he sounds like he knows what he’s doing, I’d have no problem. How will I know for sure if he’s telling the Truth until I tried it? I’ll just go ahead and find my seat, put in my ear-buds and hope for the best. I know it will be fine.”

 Crazy!  Change just for Change sake is crazy.  Flying with a 14 year old as your pilot, based on the Hope things will be fine, that’s crazy.  Politics are crazy but it is the responsibility of Politicians to navigate the craziness, think and make the Best Change!

Health Care – Countdown to Detonation

We are at a critical juncture in Our Nation’s history.  The timer continues to count down.  The Health Care System of the United States of America – is about to be Blown Up. It seems there is not a thing we can do about it. Only a small window of time is left.  If the wrong move is made – it could mean disaster for all of us and we may never recover.

 Tough Decisions Before.

 As a Country, we have faced tough decisions before and we have done the right thing; I trust that the Issue before Members of Congress will be no different. 

It is amazing how the words of Alexander Hamilton, written more than 200 years ago in Federalist No. 1 still apply today:  

 “The subject speaks its own importance; comprehending in its consequences nothing less than the existence of the UNION, the safety and welfare of the parts of which it is composed, the fate of an empire in many respects the most interesting in the world.”

 Regarding the Intentions of those on either side of the Health Care Debate – paraphrasing the words of Alexander Hamilton:

 I have known many good and wise on the wrong side of an issue and likewise – I have known those who are right yet hold the wrong intentions – let us put all that aside and discuss the matter that is before us.

 How We got Here.

 How we got here is most likely because we placed Our Trust in things untrustworthyProper placement of Trust is a discussion for another day.

 Suffice it to say that ice, thick or thin, looks much the same on the Surface. Though, once we hear a crack and find ourselves on thin ice – it matters not how we got there, but let us get back on solid ground.

 A simple way to explain how we are often lead astray, is to consider the famous optical illusion of the young woman and old lady. There are many other examples. Sometimes our mind locks onto one image and can’t see the other. This is called a scotoma or perceptual blind spot.

 A question to ponder is:  How do we know that the things we feel so passionately about are the way that they seem at all – how do we know we aren’t missing something or being misled?

We have to be aware of the tricks our mind can play on ourselves and also the tricks others play on us to get us to buy something, to cast our vote a certain way or whatever.

 Many involved in the Health Care Debate are suffering from an Evidentiary Scotoma – all  the evidence is there but they do not see it.

 These are Critical Times.

 Even in our modern world, some will give up their very lives for the promise of a young woman or many – on the other side. Most haven’t considered: Why is it that those sending others on suicide missions, decline for themselves to go on the journey, if it is so great?  What if a suicide bomber, moments before blowing themselves up, had the chance to see the Truth of what Really is on the other side?  Seeing an old lady instead – what would they decide? To blow themselves up based on a lie?  Of course not.

 The FOX Hit Show 24 – just had an episode where a suicide bomber learned the Truth and was trying to do the right thing, yet the race was on because, those with ill intent could remotely detonate the explosive vest.

 We too face a Critical Situation, where more of us are learning the Truth of what is actually in the thousands of pages of Health Care Legislation and yet the Control is not with us and time is running out.

 I believe it was Wayne Dyer who told this story –

 There once was a wise man who knew all things, who came across another man who tried to trip him up by asking, “Hidden in my hands I hold a little bird.  Tell me wise man, is the bird dead or alive?” The wise man recognized the question as a trick, he knew if he said the bird was dead, the man would open his hands and the bird would fly away;  if he said the bird was alive, the man would crush the bird and it would be dead. With that, the wise man replied, “You hold the Truth in your hands.”

 We don’t know how Democrats will proceed regarding the fate of Our Health Care System, Our Freedom and More. Specifically, do they vote Yes or do they vote No? Reconciliation, Deem and Pass, how will they vote, what will they do? The Truth is in their hands.

 Catch 22 for Wise Men (and Women).

 Democrats are truly in a Catch 22 situation with the decision that is before them:

 If they Vote YES:  They face the wrath of many angry People, a protracted Court battle for Violation of the Constitution Article 1 Section 7 and/or usurping States and Individual Rights under the Tenth Amendment; they can expect many more angry calls and protests directed at them and their staff;  likely no hope of future cooperation from Republicans;  the passing of Legislation that violates their own Principles and that may never be remedied;  the implementing of what is arguably an unworkable, unsustainable centralized solution that neglects to include, even the very basics of Real REFORM.

 If they Vote NO:  Their career and possibly their whole public service life will be dead.  They will not receive any Democratic support and they will be ostracized from the Party. Crossing over to the Republican side probably won’t work for them because of the real and fundamental differences between the Parties, even apart from the Progressive Movement.

 Voting NO also means, like the President has stated: Healthcare Reform will be dead for at least ten more years. I believe he is correct, in light of all the craziness that has surrounded this issue. In the end the People will lose the Real Reforms that we all want.  On the Bright side, I believe as most Citizens believe, Killing the Bill means Our Country and Our Freedom get to Survive – though I realize this Truth is not shared by All.

 There obviously are different Passionate views on both sides.  So, how could we have a Happy Ending to the Story?  You know, an ending where the wise man is still wise; both the bird and the bomber have new life and we all live happily ever after? Well here’s an idea…

 Sticking with our metaphors, Democrats do hold the power in their hands and yet how do we disable the explosive vest without the guys holding the remote detonator, finding out what we are up to? First of all, who are “the guys” on the trigger? They aren’t guys at all – it is the PROCESS itself that is Out of Control.  And CONTROL is precisely what can used – to get Control Back.

 Diffusing the Bomb.

 An Important note to Democrats:

Don’t make any sudden movements, don’t press any buttons and please – don’t Vote just yet.

 First, we have to buy some time, there are many Right reasons for buying time: reviewing CBO numbers, needing time to Read and Review the many pages, wrestling with the Violation of Principles (abortion, special deals, other unacceptable language), Using a Questionable Method to Advance the Bill, thinking about the overwhelming number of negative (even threatening) calls logged from Constituents and Other people, having a Change of Heart or Anything else that fits and is real for you. 

 It’s been said by the President that, if this legislation does not get passed – Health Care Reform won’t get done for 10 or more years. He probably is correct, but it doesn’t have to be that way.

 We should not Force the Wrong Solution, just to have a Solution – with all the Negatives that are attached.

 Why not put the Best Solution in Place?  Where we are NOW is the Perfect place to make this happen. We ALL feel the stress of what is before us.  Let’s use that stress to Force us to the Best Solution. How do we get there?

 I suggest that the House draft a Resolution and submit it for a Vote – along the lines of a Conditional Agreement to Kill the Bill. Contained within it should be a clause similar to the following:

 WARNING: The count-down sequence will continue – if certain conditions are not met!

 Acceptable replacement Legislation must be drafted by a specified time – no Special Deals, no Federal Funding for abortion as a minimum, but then also including: those other things that most Agree are necessary for REAL Reform.

 When it is agreed that the Acceptable Replacement Legislation is drafted and voted upon – the critical detonator wire will be Deemed as being Cut and the Bomb will be diffused

We will then have the Real Health Care Reform that we want and We the People inside and outside the Beltway will be a whole lot happier.

 We are up against the Clock here – let’s get this done!

Pushing Health Care – Six MisSteps

The President and Democrats claim they are attempting to Solve the Problems of Our Nation – yet the Solutions they Propose are: at a minimum misdirected or More likely the most Abuse of Power Our Nation has Ever Seen.

 Where and why they are Wrong involves Six MisSteps they have made.

 These MisSteps are being taken with Health Care Reform but also Cap and Trade and their Other Agenda Items as well

This Article describes their Push of Gov Run HC upon us.  Why they are fixated on Health Care I don’t know, but Ronald Reagan gave us a clue.

 Stinky Swamp Attitude.

 Before we get to MisStep #1 A Faulty Foundationwe must first address The Swamp.  You know the Swamp:  the one Democrats were to drain and replace it with Pristine Waters of Honor, Integrity and Transparency.  Well as others have noticed, the Swamp is overflowing and it is as Stinky as ever. How can you build a strong foundation on that?

 The Stinky Swamp Attitude is expressed this way:

We know what’s Best for you People who are uneducated and unaware – the ones we ignore; You are incapable of managing your own life and you need Control, Guidance and Sustenance from us. 

 In other words, THEY are the Power Brokers – the Resource Gatherers, Keepers and Allocators.  In their Arrogance, they Even put Themselves Above their Own Rules, Regulations, Laws and Despotic Controls – that they Seek to Impose on Others.

 Building on that, it’s no wonder their approval is so low and they have so little to show. 

 Hold your nose and let’s take a few missteps through the Stinky Swamp.

 MisStep #1  A Faulty Foundation.

 I too was unaware until last summer when I got a fishy email.  I did my own homework and here’s what I discovered Democrats and the President are attempting to Push on us:

 A Forced Hostile Take Over of Our Entire Health Care System, Restructuring it under a Massive Layer of Government Bureaucracy, Autocratically Administrating it from Washington, Mandating what States and Individuals Must Do, Controlling the Most Personal aspects Our Lives, Subjecting the Delivery of Our Health Care to the Limitations of the Federal Budget and All Based on a Set of Regulations that they themselves are Exempt.

Can’t we end the Article Here?

 Their goal is NOT to REFORM Healthcare – as to improve or optimize;  Their goal is to REFORM it – as to REMAKE it Entirely.  And they’re DOING IT on the FLY.

 Like Cap and Trade they started with a False Premise, a Faulty Foundation and they figured they’d fill in the Data and details as they went along – trying to make their behind closed doors, concocted Dream a Reality.

The Basis for their Whole System does not make Sense. It is not feasible. It is not workable. It is not possible.

 In an upcoming Article: Health Care: All About Control we look at HC Reform not from a Political, but from a PROCESS Viewpoint.  If we were to design the BEST System from Scratch – it would look far different that what is Being Proposed.  A few points:  

 What Structure is Required to Connect All Residents (legal and illegal) and their Bank Accounts (for those who have them) to Washington, DC? One-sixth of Our Nation’s Economy will flow to DC where they apply their Controls and then they Decide where and when to send $ out.

 What are the Number of Line Item Transactions Involved in Our Health Care System? Each line item has multiple and many steps involved and to process, in order to proceed to the next item. Three words to Consider: Cash for Clunkers. 

 What will this Massive Centralized Control System cost and what does it add?  Here’s why a $7 Hammer costs $436 through a Government System. If we ourselves were paying, we would find the best deal, if Government writes the check we still pay, our kids pay and our kids kids pay…

 Imagine even one-tenth of one percent of us having a problem. Who do we call? Imagine 308,000 people waiting on Hold – even the Gov Run HC may be Outsourced to India: “Howw May I hellp you?”

 With HC the False Premise is that Government can run Health Care Better not even considering the most Basic Question:

Is Government even Capable of running HC at all?

 There’s no time to ask that – they are too busy trying to SELL IT.

The Simple Majority is Simply Wrong

For many Democrats in Congress, the majority of People in their District are but a remote annoyance that interrupts THEM from doing THEIR work; they forget – they are supposed to be doing the People’s work.

Most Democrats in Congress have long departed from the Will of the People. They are now manipulating the Rules in order to Force THEIR agenda on us. The Founders by design made it uneasy to pass Legislation and yet the Congress has overruled Them.

It is supposed to take a 3/5ths (60 vote) Majority in the Senate to pass Legislation.  Senators took it upon themselves to lower this number to 51 but only for the purpose of “reconciling” Budget Itemsthis is why they called it Reconciliation.

When Democrats were in the Minority and Republicans wrongly wanted to use Reconciliation for a broader purpose we heard a different tune – then it was Renamed the Nuclear Option. 

Watch this video and realize what Democrats were so upset about – was the use of the Nuclear Option for the Appointment of a Judge:  

Now Democrats want to use that same Nuclear Option for the Hostile takeover of Our Entire Healthcare System.

Democrats say Americans don’t understand Reconciliation and People are not interested in the “complex inner workings of Congress”.  Democrats again misread the American People who DO UNDERSTAND what Democrats are doing. 

What Democrats are trying to Sell us violates the Ten Amendment of the Constitution, tramples on Individual and State Rights and People just don’t want it.

Democrats are still not listening and because even they know what they’re threatening to do is misuse of the Rules, they had to come up with a new strategy.

What has emerged from their smoky back room?  Surprise – the renaming of Reconciliation again.

Now they want to Call it a… 

“Simple Majority – up or down vote”.

Rename it, repackage it, put some whipped cream and sprinkles on it. We are not going to eat it. Stop wasting time.  Throw out the dog food and lets get serious with REAL REFORM.

Trying to Force Feed us by SIMPLE MAJORITY is SIMPLY WRONG!

The HOPE and CHANGE Amended Constitution

The HOPE and CHANGE people imagined when they voted for Barack Obama was different from what he and a few czars had in mind.  Their HOPE and CHANGE was:  

 I HOPE the People won’t notice when we CHANGE a few words of the Constitution…

Original Preamble:

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, ensure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

The Revisions:
We the (a few) People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect (World, behind closed doors and with the help of the) Union(s), establish (a) Justice (Choices Commission headed by a Czar), (to) ensure domestic Tranquility (Subservience), provide for the (to be defended by) common defense (Lawyers, activist Judges and the ACLU), promote the (pay out) general Welfare (to the rest of the People), and secure the Blessings of Liberty to (for) Ourselves (, a few Special Interests) and Our (Party’s) Posterity, do ordain and establish (as amended) this Constitution for the United States of America.

New Preamble:

We a few People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect World, behind closed doors and with the help of the Unions, establish a Justice Choices Commission headed by a Czar, to ensure domestic Subservience, to be defended by common defense Lawyers, activist Judges and the ACLU, pay out general Welfare to the rest of the People, and secure the Blessings of Liberty for Ourselves, a few Special Interests and Our Party’s Posterity, do ordain and establish, as amended, this Constitution for the United States of America.

ObamaCare Bill Should Take The Same Route As Hurricane Bill

The President tried, like a stealth submarine travelling in the calmness of the deep, to push through what he called a health care reform bill without (as he promised) Americans being on board and involved in the process. Although being fueled by various chosen special interest groups and a crew of his own choosing, Obama’s efforts fortunately got tangled in the weeds and stalled.

Americans learned for themselves the true intent of the Bill – the government takeover of health care with a serious assault on Our Freedom. The President’s sub was forced to the surface, where he made his own pleas – and although sincere and touching stories were also heard – the words ObamaCare were clearly now readable on the side.

No longer traveling undetected and with poll numbers falling like a steel lug nut in the ocean, the President decided to take the advice of his advisors and pulled into a refuge near Martha’s Vineyard.  Conditions continued to be rough – as a “Bill” of a different kind followed him.

Although Hurricane Bill will eventually die out as the President wraps up his retreat, he will find that, just as a hurricane lulls only to re-energize stronger – when it crosses over the panhandle into the warm waters of the gulf – so too will the intensity of the public storm re-energize even stronger with regard to ObamaCare.

The intensity of this storm will not diminish until ObamaCare is permanently dry-docked – then and only then – can the damage possibly be repaired, that the President has done, to the public trust and the conversation regarding real health care reform truly can begin.

If however, the President chooses to continue to ignore the Will of the People, regroup with his special interest allies and launch a renewed campaign to have the House and Senate push through ObamaCare – the damage to America’s heartland and Our Freedom will be greater than Katrina and we will ALL experience first-hand, just how bad the Government’s delivery system of care really is.

In any event, the American People will have the final say as to whether the political fate of those in support of ObamaCare in any form, independent of political party, will meet the same fate as all hurricanes – in 2010, 2012 and beyond – and they just go away.

Watch for Skinny Bob in the Debate on Health Care Reform

I was participating in an online forum the other day explaining why government run health care is a bad idea and what’s in HR3200 being rushed through the Congress. 

 People were participating back and forth. Some had read the bill, others had not. Talking about the specifics and how crazy it was, all of a sudden from out of nowhere a guy chimes in, “Oh sure, if Bush would have done this you wouldn’t have cared”.  I thought where the heck is this guy coming from? Then it occurred to me – it might be Bob.

 About twenty years ago my brother had a messy haired, skinny roommate named Bob who would like to mess with people – just to mess with them.  An area he would like to do this was driving.

 If someone was trying to merge onto the highway – Bob would speed up so they couldn’t merge or he’d pull into the fast lane and slow down to block a guy from passing – if the guy would ride his bumper – he would slow down more, if they’d flash their lights – he’d tap his brakes.  If Bob saw someone with a fish symbol on their bumper he would especially love that – he would do what ever he could to try and get them to be mad because he believed Christians believed they could not get angry (wrong assumption).

 He would come home from work and report to my brother his “successes” – “got two fish and a merger today” or “got flipped off by a fish guy today” and he would laugh…

 He’d mess with other people as well – he’d call into the local talk radio show and tell the call screener his on topic message and then when he got on the air, he’d talk about something completely different or try to embarrass the host. He did this one time while my brother was in the other room listening to the radio and my brother too got a big kick out of it.

 My brother told me about embarrassing the radio host and I didn’t think it was funny and couldn’t believe my brother would be a part of it. For the next couple years my brother started messing with people too and he became a different person. He just didn’t seem to care as much about people anymore. Then one day I was riding in his car and he actually slowed down to let someone merge. I was shocked and asked him, “Why didn’t you speed up and mess with them?” and he said, “I don’t do that anymore” and when I asked why he said, “It just doesn’t feel good.” 

 My brother went back to school and got an engineering degree and a good job.  Years later he ran into skinny Bob who’d lost some hair but not much else had changed – it was like he was stuck in time – he complained about the same dead end job, hung out at the same places and still had the same attitude that – people owed him something.

When my brother asked if he was still messing with people he said, “Yeah but I haven’t done it while driving in a while (seems he ticked off the wrong guy in a pickup truck) – now I do it online – there I can be anyone but the goal is the same…

I remember hearing the phrase, “there are only three jerks in the whole world but the problem is – they move around a lot”. Bob is one of those jerks. So whether you’re driving or having a serious discussion about the government take over of health care, remember not to take it too personally – it just might be Bob. 

If you meet Bob while driving why not wave but this time in a polite way – with all your fingers up, together and with you thumb in your palm – that’s the deaf sign for a “B” and he’ll get the message.  If you’re online and find yourself trying to talk with a loon – it just might be Bob. Why not ask, “Bob is that you?” or just “bob?” or just say hi in the most appropriate way – he may not reply and he may continue – but for him, his game will be a little less fun.

I’ve Never Been A Political Man…

Like the Alan Jackson song says, “I’ve never been a political man” but I tell you what – the way the democrats are behaving now, I am ready and willing to become just that – a political man. 

 When a democrat President is elected on the promise of hope and change and  describing in great detail how the health care reform conversation would go and now that he’s in power – he locks the door on the American people; (Source)

When a democrat President makes a promise to end the behind-the-scenes special interest deals and then makes a huge deal with the big drug companies in essence capping their health care reform costs to protect their profits; (Source)

 When a democrat run process releases a 1000+ page bill in the middle of the night to be sped through to a vote without being read and when some say they would like to read it, they’re looked upon as if they’ve sprouted another head; (Source 1 2)

 When the democrats continue to demonize average, ordinary citizens and label them as the worst people in the world and say they’re “un-American”; (Source 1 2)

 When the democrat White House asks that “fishy emails” be sent to them and then emails others who didn’t asked to be emailed; (Source 1 2)

 When a democrat connects a swastika on a sign (before the crime has been investigated) and a racist letter received to how the opposition is framing the health care debate; (Source)

 When democrats hold town halls they’re either on the phone or seem to have a blank stare while repeating to themselves “I’m not listening, I’m not listening, I’m not listening” and later then going out and saying they “are not representative of the American people”. (Source 1 2 3)

 When democrats use one version of the bill (HR3200) as a public punching bag while no democrat will take ownership of it, while 4 or 5 other versions are being crafted in private – again involving special interests and out of the public view; (Source 1 2)

 When democrat packaging techniques are used to “sell the public”, from “HR3200: America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009” (who doesn’t want that?) to the “Health Choices Administration” or the “Health Choices Commissioner” (who wouldn’t be for more health and more choices?), to the changing of the very title of the reform itself: from “Health Care Reform” to “Health Insurance Reform” (care – good and should not change, insurance – bad and in need of reform) and other strategies; (Source 1 2)

 When a democrat says I will vote against my constituents – even if 80% of them are against it – if I (a very large capital “I”) believe it will help them.  (Source)

 When I read the democrat bill to learn that this is not about health care reform at all – yes, it will re-engineer our whole health care system but most importantly it will change the entire way of life for ALL Americans and for this reason alone – I am ready and willing to become a very, very political man.

10 Steps Back With Health Care Reform

Instead of discussing the particulars of any health care reform bill that has been crafted behind closed doors, why not take 10 (or more) steps back to ask some basic questions…

 #1  What steps have to be taken to involve the public with the process, to have open and honest debate and to end special interest deals made behind closed doors?

 #2  Besides the public in general, who are the other stakeholders in the health care system and how are their interests being represented and equitably respected?

 #3  What are the things that are right and wrong with the existing health care system and to what extent do we want targeted vs. overall reforms?

 #4  What role do we want government (Federal, State and Local) to play in any health care system and how can reforms be made without adding layers of bureaucracy or sacrificing liberty, privacy or the quality of care?

 #5  What role does economic status play in the ability or inability to access the current health care system and how can or do existing community programs address this?

 #6  How do the numbers break down: number of subgroups of people that do not have health insurance, cost of insurance as percentage of income, costs of reform and so on?

 #7  Since it is not possible for every neighborhood to have a Mayo or Cleveland Clinic and – under any system – some people will be denied access to the BEST care – how are disparities reconciled?

 #8  All health care relies heavily on the judgments of many – the patient, the doctor, the treatment options, the payer (now with the greatest leverage) – by increasing the government’s payer role, where does the added money come from and since it is not possible for ALL patients to get EVERY available treatment, who decides who gets what?

 #9  When the system is strained, how are scarce resources allocated and protection absolutely assured for the disabled, the elderly and others who need care?

 #10  What other questions should we be asking to optimize our health care system?
